Do you really need maternity underwear — or can you make do with regular underwear a couple of sizes larger?

Depending on how you are carrying baby and how much weight you gain, many women feel that maternity underwear is cut to allow room for your changing body.

From the under-belly fit to the elastic trim at waist and leg openings, maternity underwear will fit great, especially as you enter your third trimester. Plus, mamas who like bump-hugging tops will appreciate not having a “panty line” across their stomach.

If you are carrying your baby high or have not gained much weight (lucky you!), you might find that your pre-pregnancy panties or regular underwear a few sizes larger fits just fine.
