Find out how you can look stylish after baby is born, without splurging on an entire transition or post-baby wardrobe. By using a few key pieces in your wardrobe and shopping wisely, you can easily look like a yummy mummy without blowing the college fund.

Re-visit those first trimester/early second trimester clothes: Those pieces that helped your transition through the early pregnancy period can be worn again after baby is born. Jeans or pants with an underbelly cut or a drawstring will feel good on your postpartum body. Pull out that Bella Band and use it to help your transition from your maternity jeans to regular jeans.

Layering: Buy a couple of long layering camis or tanks in solid colors to layer under tops to conceal (and suck in!) your post-baby belly. Pictured is the Old Navy Long Layering Tank ($8.50 each or 2 for $10).

Figure-friendly waistbands: Avoid the dreaded “muffin top” by wearing skirts and pants with an underbelly cut or a drawstring waistband. Forget about trying to squeeze into those pre-pregnancy skinny jeans — they will only squeeze your belly and midsection into an unflattering shape and make you look larger than you really are.

Shop budget-friendly stores: Buying a couple of shirts and jeans that actually fit and are not labeled “maternity” can really help lift a new-moms spirits. You don’t have to spend a bundle to look amazing! Stores like Old Navy and Target feature stylish fashions at a fraction of the prices of many department stores and boutiques. Save up at that money to splurge on a pair of skinny jeans once you have lost all of your baby weight!
