How to hide your tummy after baby
December 27, 2008
How do you disguise your post-baby muffin top? Find out tips on making the most of your postpartum figure.
-Tops: Look for blouses and tops that have an eye-catching neckline (v-neck, ruffles, etc.) to draw the eye up and away from your tummy. Avoid tight tops which will only draw attention to your tummy bulge, and wear tops with a banded hem that will diguise your midsection, but still give your body some form. Stay away from empire-waist tops that look too much like maternity clothes and may prompt some innocent bystander asking, “So, when are you due?” A good choice is the Twist Neck Top, pictured, from Gap.com.
-Pants/jeans: You may have to bite the bullet and buy a pair of jeans and/or pants a couple of sizes larger than your pre-pregnant size while you are loosing your baby weight. Trust me, you will NOT want to wear your maternity jeans. Look for jeans that are boot-cut and in a dark wash for a slimming effect.
-Jackets: Do not, I repeat, do not wear a swing or cropped jacket if you are trying to diguise tummy bulge. The cropped cut will only accentuate your post-baby stomach — especially if paird with a tight top. Look for a fitted jacket that falls mid-waist for a flattering look.
