With all those pregnancy hormones surging through your body, picking a color to paint the nursery can feel like a big chore. Some things to consider are overall theme, as well as the size of the room.

If you are finding out the sex of your baby, a soft pink or blue can make a nice, traditional backdrop for the nursery. For those who are waiting to find out of the sex, painting the room a soft lime or lemon color adds a modern feel to the nursery. A taupe or moss green color can add warmth to a room and won’t require you to repaint the walls when your child has outgrown her nursery.

Other options to create a peaceful place for your baby include dressing up the walls with wallpaper, borders or an elegant chair rail. Talk with the professionals at home improvement stores, such as Home Depot or Lowe’s, to get an idea of how much work it will take for you to tackle these jobs on your own. If the task seems overwhelming, enlist the help of a professional to get the job done.

To see how paint can really change the look of a room (and to get more color ideas), check out the video, “Interior Design Dezine in a Minute–Wall Color for Nursery.” Even though the narrator sounds like Murray from HBO’s Flight of the Concords, he does offer some good advice.
