Work dilemma: How to wear scrubs while pregnant
September 9, 2007

Question: I am a nurse and I have just found out that I am pregnant. My job requires me to wear scrubs to work but I don’t know how I am going to make them fit throughout my pregnancy! Any tips?
Many scrub pants are made with an elastic or drawstring waist which will accommodate your growing belly. You can experiment with wearing your pants below or on top of your bump. Wear a scrubs top in a larger size to cover up your belly.
As your belly outgrows the larger scrub tops, buy a fabric band (such as the Bella Band) to wear around your scrub pants to cover your bump. You should be able to continue to wear normal scrubs, just at a larger size.
If you find that normal scrubs aren’t cutting it, there are maternity scrubs available. You can find scrub pants with a panel in the front. The scrub shirts are cut longer to accommodate your belly. Look for retailers such as Sassy Scrubs or A 2 Z Uniforms. If you plan on getting pregnant again, these may be a good investment.
