What to wear to work when you’re pregnant
January 15, 2009
How do stay looking stylish AND professional when you are dressing for two? Follow our trimester specific guide to help you look stylish at work throughout all nine months and beyond.
Trimester One:
You are probably not showing, however may start to feel bloated and feel like your pants are getting tight, especially towards the end of your first trimester. You probably don’t need to wear actual maternity clothes yet, but wearing pants and skirts with a stretchy waistband will be much more comfortable.
Trimester Two:
You tummy will probably “pop” sometime early in your first trimester. If you are not quite ready to share the pregnancy news, wear non-clingy tops paired with a blazer to conceal your tummy. Click here for more tummy hiding tips. This is the perfect time to purchase your maternity work basics: maternity skirt, pants and blazer. These 3 pieces can be mixed and matched for countless number of looks. You also can’t go wrong with a stylish black dress, and/or a wrap dress.
Trimester Three:
Have fun with your belly bump by wearing drop-waist dresses or shirts that gently hug your curves. Most women find their feet swell by 1/2 size during pregnancy, therefore you may want to splurge on a stylish pair of flats or shoes with a kitten heel that are slightly larger than your normal size. Many women also find that dresses — maxi dresses and wrap dresses- are the most comfortable during their third trimester.
