Treat your feet
August 1, 2007
Between the pregnancy hormones causing your feet to swell and the added weight, your feet deserve a little treat. Here are some easy ways to show your toes some TLC!
- Soaking your feet in warm water will increase the swelling, so why not rub on a cooling lotion instead? You can find foot creams at many maternity boutiques, as well as drugstores and supermarkets. A couple to consider: Dr Scholl’s for Her Cooling Peppermint Lotion and Bliss Foot Patrol.
- If you are at the I-can’t-reach-my-feet stage, enlist your hubby to give you a gentle foot massage. Or, better yet…
- Treat yourself to a pedicure at a spa. Make sure you tell them of your “expecting” status. (Click here to read more about spa safety when you are pregnant.)
- Dress up your feet by painting your nails a fun, vibrant color. A soft pink or neutral color is also a good choice because the chips won’t show as easily.
- Rub on a salt scrub or exfoliating lotion to combat dryness and scaly skin.
- Nothing says, “Ahhhhh,” more than wearing comfortable shoes. Buy your shoes half a size larger to accommodate for the swelling, and slip in some supportive shoe inserts.
Got something to say?
