Being a fashionable mom-to-be is easier than you think. All it requires is that you listen to your inner fashionista and avoid these top 5 fashion mistakes.

1. Forgetting your personal style: Don’t start wearing tailored maternity dresses if your pre-pregnancy wardrobe consisted of jeans and flowy tops. Find maternity clothes that are the style you love, but cut to fit your pregnant body. For more tips, check out our article on maternity clothes that fit your personal style >>

2. Waiting too long to buy maternity clothes: You will be more comfortable and get more bang for your buck if you buy clothes that fit well before you start popping out of them. Get tips on when to buy maternity clothes here >>

3. Buying all your maternity clothes at once: It is impossible to tell exactly how your body will look at Week 28 when you are at Week 12. Buy a few pieces as your body changes, but hold off on buying everything at once (especially with maternity bras).

4. Wearing large “tent-like” dresses : Avoid the tent look through buying clothes that fit and gently hug your growing bump. Look for details like an empire-waist with a tie back or side-shirring to give your body form and style. The pictured Sleeveles Paisley Print Maternity Dress from A Pea in the Pod is belted to give your body shape and definition.

5. Not pampering yourself: You will feel more put together and sexy if you indulge yourself a little and get a pedicure and a fabulous haircut.

I’ve been searching for maternity clothes that are attractive to menfor a special friend. Much of what I’ve seen is directed towards appealing to other women and seem to be lackluster and not very sultry. This isn’t much of a suprise in that it seems that women tend to dress on a daily basis for each other rather than to appeal to men in their life.

Even still, I believe that during the pregnancy period atttractiveness is even more critical in that the more attracted the man is to his the mother of his child, the stronger the bond will be for the child…

So far in my search, it seems that the prominent style is the rounded colar which is the least attractive…Is there another style?

    All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

This is quite true.. I’ve also been looking for trendy yet comfy dresses and blouses yet all I’ve seen are expensive plain-looking outfits (which I am sure no preggy mom would really buy).

Some of my cousins suggested that I buy empire-cut blouses or dresses, ones that are roomy on the chest-part and has a sexy over-all design. These are actually non-maternity clothes, and may still be used after giving birth =) Low-heeled trendy sandals or beaded thong-slippers were also suggested.

    Hope I helped!

PS: I am quite determined not to look like a tired housewife every time my husband sees me – he was attracted with my sexiness, and sexy is what he’s always gonna get =)

There are more and more really cute dresses out there, and dresses are what I mostly wear to work. I’m a high-heel diva, but dresses go just as well with flats. Add jewelry, and it’s completely non-fuss.

I would say that the biggest fashion mistake during pregnancy is not to take care of your hair. Hormones and the way water distributes in your pregnant body make your hair awesome, so take the same care with it you usually do, and you’ll look fantastic.

I don’t think any pregnant woman’s belly makes her look ugly, no matter what the maternity fashion style. Embrace your baby bump and love all these changes!

Got something to say?
