Pregnant again? Budget friendly ways to update your maternity wardrobe
March 29, 2010
Congratulations! You are pregnant again! Before you drop your child’s college fund on new maternity clothes, find out how you can use what you already have for a updated maternity look.
Basic tops: Solid tees and tops never go out of style! Update basic tees by layering chunky necklaces and pairing it with a chic blazer and jeans. For longer tops, pair with skinny jeans and cinch a belt under your bump.
Jeans: How can you make your old maternity jeans look current? To make boot-cut jeans look updated, roll them up and wear them with ballet flats, solid tee and blazer for the trendy “boyfriend” look. Have an old pair of tapered leg maternity jeans? Pair them with high heels or booties and a belted tunic top for a night out with your hubby.

Dresses: Wrap dresses, long maxi dresses and babydoll dresses remain in style, so if you have these from your last pregnancies you are in luck! A basic empire waist dress can be updated with metallic flats or wedges and layered necklaces. For a California girl look, pair a printed dress with a jean jacket. Skirts: If you have jean skirts, printed or solid colored maternity skirts, pair them with a solid cami or bump-hugging top and flats for a chic look. Check out Gwen Stefani in this hip look.
Pants: Your old khaki or maternity cargo pants can look updated by rolling up the hem above your ankle and pairing them with hip wedges. You may also consider getting them tailored so they are more of a capri or copped pants look. Check out these Gap Cropped pants for inspiration.
Tunic tops: Printed and solid tunic tops are a hot look for pregnant mamas! Make your older tops look current by pairing with leggings or tapered leg jeans and belting under your bump. Check out Claudia Schiffer in this hip look.

I think the maxi dresses can look very classy. I like that they can be casual and fancy
I like the maxi dresses too. They look so comfy while still adding style.
