I remember buying a cute top early in my pregnancy that I thought for sure would last me my entire pregnancy. Let’s just say—I was wrong! By the time my third trimester hit, I could not button it all the way down and my tummy hung out the bottom.

Before you pack the shirt away for post-pregnancy wear, try these techniques to extend the life of your shirt:

1. Try a Bella Band: The Bella Band is a band of fabric that you wear underneath your clothes to “fill in” the space between your shirt and your tummy. It can also be used to help extend the life of your non-maternity jeans.
2. Wear a long tank or cami underneath your too-short top to essentially serve the save purpose as a Bella Band. Pictured is the Old Navy Maternity Long Layering Cami ($8.50).
3. If your shirt is a buttoned-up shirt, leave it unbuttoned and wear a layering top underneath for a new look.
4. Another option for that too-small jacket or buttoned-up top is to wear a layering top underneath and just button the top 2-3 buttons for a cute look.
