Home from the hospital outfit
May 6, 2008

Are you trying to decide what to pack in your hospital bag? Don’t forget to bring a comfortable, yet stylish, outfit to wear home from the hospital. I’m sure you will want to snap a few pictures of you and your newborn’s first car ride and, trust me, you will be glad you planned ahead.
When considering a “home from the hospital” outfit, look for a top that is cut to be forgiving to your postpartum belly. Non-constricting pants with a drawstring waistband will allow you to adjust them to a comfortable position (especially if your belly is sore from a C-section). Even though your milk may not come in for a few days, it is always a good idea to bring along a supportive bra. Speaking of undergarments, it is also a good idea to include a pair of maternity cotton underwear or good ole’ fashioned granny panties. They are cut wider which will help accommodate your feminine pad for postpartum bleeding.
One home-from-the-hospital outfit choice is this casual look from Gap.com. The terry bermuda shorts feature a forgiving drawstring waistband, the shirred tee is cut to be forgiving around the midsection and the shirred zip-up terry hoodie will be flattering to your post-partum body.
Got something to say?
