Buying clothes to fit your ever-changing body is always a challenge. You want to maintain your sense of style, while staying comfortable. Because a great pair of jeans or pants will be a staple item in your maternity wardrobe, you might want to consider splurging on a stylish and well-made pair.

weekender.jpgYou can probably get away with wearing your normal pants and jeans up until the third month of pregnancy when they start getting tight around the waist. A belly band can help you wear some of your non-maternity clothes longer, however you may get tired of always wearing a loose-fitting long shirt. You need to show off that gorgeous bump in a form-fitting shirt!

Because your body will change so much in the upcoming months, look for pants and jeans that are adjustable. Look for pants that have elasticized panels, adjustable side buttons or a drawstring to accommodate for your growing belly. The more adjustability the clothing has, the longer you can wear it.

Many pants and jeans are designed to either have a front panel or are cut to fit below your belly. The front panel expands with your stomach and they provide nice coverage when you are bending over. The downside of the panel is that it can feel bulky and hot. The under-the-belly cut feels less bulky and looks better with form-fitting shirts, however can sometimes show your underwear when bending over. Try both on at a maternity store to find the cut that feels most comfortable to you.

Don’t wait too long to purchase some nice maternity pieces. You will feel more comfortable and look more stylish wearing clothes designed for your pregnant body. Plus, you get more bang for your buck the longer you wear your maternity clothes.
