Budget friendly tips for updating your maternity wardrobe
August 17, 2012
Update your maternity wardrobe without breaking the bank by incorporating some fresh and fall trends into your look. Avoid the expensive boutiques and shop online at maternity stores online like Gap.com, MotherhoodMaternity.com, ASOS.com and OldNavy.com.
Stripes are a hot trend and we love this black and white striped Nautical Shift dress from Gap.com ($50.) This dress is great because it is so versatile. Pair it with flats for a casual day shopping at the mall or pair it with opaque tights and boots for dressed up occasions or for work. The design of this dress means you can wear it from trimester one until trimester three – and would be great after baby is born.

Animal prints are another huge trend this fall. Look for animal print sweaters or dresses – or, if you aren’t feeling quite that bold, pair a chic animal print scarf with a basic black dress or look for a fab animal print bag.

Colorblocking is a huge trend and, not only is it if, it is also flattering! The blocks of color can be strategically located to help slim and flatter your pregnancy curves. One great example of this is the Sleeveless Belted Maternity Dress from Motherhood Maternity ($40). This dress features black blocks of color down the sides of the dress and gray in the front which creates a slimming illusion.
Color is back in a big way! Have fun showing off your baby bump in coral maxi dresses, pink maternity blouses or colored denim. You can also get in the colorful mood by painting your nails a bright fuchsia or sea foam blue or have fun with a black dress by wearing chic pink wedges.
