5 Pregnancy fashion mistakes to avoid
February 17, 2009
Find out what pregnancy fashion mistakes to avoid for a stylish 9 months.
Buying large, formless dresses: To avoid looking like a walking tent, buy well-fitting dresses with ties or side ruching to give your body some form. Pictured is the gorgeous Sche Maternity “jetline” Silk Dress ($43) from Nordstrom.com.
Buying all your maternity clothes at once: It is hard to tell exactly how your body will change the next 9 months. Buy clothes as you need them and look for pieces that will grow with you.
Not buying any maternity clothes: Sure, you can get away with sticking to “non-maternity” empire-waist dresses and shirts, but there will come a point when you will look better and feel better by buying a few maternity essentials. Clothes such as maternity pants, jeans and some basic tops will go a long way in allowing you to feel and look good.
Dressing all in black: Black is slimming and classic, but have fun by dressing your new pregnancy curves in hip colors and prints.
Not buying a maternity bra: To avoid the dreaded “back fat” look, get fitted for a new bra once your pre-pregnant bra starts to feel tight. Most women will increase by one cup size (or more!) during pregnancy.
