Gisele Bundchen’s shares her post-baby weight loss secret

February 1, 2010

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen is enjoying being a new mom to her son Benjamin and, although he is is only a month old, she is already going back to work, posing for the Brazilian label Colcci. What’s her secret?
SPL134827_002
Gisele, who is married to NFL star Tom Brady, revealed that she ate healthy, didn’t eat junk food (talk about willpower!) and kept busy with yoga and kung-fu.

“I kept myself in good shape during the whole pregnancy, eating healthily, meditating, and doing exercises,” says Bündchen. “I put on a little weight, but kept using almost the same clothes, with small adjustments on the stomach.”

She says that taking care of little Benjamin has kept her busy, leaving little time to exercise. “I still haven’t had time to go back to doing exercise. In the first few months, everything turns around the baby. But little by little you recover your form. What helps me is the fact that I didn’t put much weight on, and that I had a natural birth and am breast-feeding.”

3rd trimester maternity clothes guide

February 1, 2010

You are at the home stretch! You may not be able to see your feet and waddle when you walk but, trust us, you can still look stylish and feel comfortable in your 3rd trimester.

We have shared our top tips for the 1st trimester and 2nd trimester, now follow our tips for those last few months of pregnancy:

Comfort can be stylish: Dresses are a must-have for your 3rd trimester. They skim your curves beautifully, are comfortable and easy (no messing with matching tops and bottoms!). Whether you prefer a long maxi dress, a wrap dress or a cute sundress, you will look as good as you feel (or better than you feel!).

Leggings: Luckily for pregnant moms, leggings are back in a huge way! Pair black leggings with a long tunic top, sweater dress or button-front shirt, throw on some flats and you are golden!

Underwear and bras: You don’t have to spend a lot on underwear and bras — but you will most likely need a larger size than your pre-pregnancy size. Check out stores like Target or Old Navy to pick up maternity underwear or regular underwear in a larger size. If you plan on breastfeeding, you may consider picking up a nursing bra.

Sleepwear: Go for maximum comfort when sleeping. Whether you prefer a maternity nightgown or a tank top and underwear, look for stretchy and soft fabrics for maximum comfort.

Pregnancy fashion style trends 2010

January 13, 2010

SPL138557_015What will the fashionable pregnant moms be wearing this year? Taking cues from celebrity style and fashion trends, we predict the hottest looks for pregnancy.

Leggings: Why are we happy this trend is back? Maternity leggings are as comfortable as they are stylish and versatile. Dress them down with flats or boots paired with a bump-hugging sweater or tunic top. Dress them up with heels or booties and a long flowing top, paired with a belt. Have fun by wearing print leggins are trying out a new fabric, such as leather or velvet. Find out more on how to wear maternity leggings here!

Maternity skinny jeans: Don’t panic! Skinny jeans don’t mean you have to be skinny to wear them, it just refers to the tapered leg cut of the jeans. Make sure your skinny maternity jeans contain a bit of stretch for maximum comfort. In fact, today’s jeans often feel as comfortable as leggings! Wear them much in the same way you would wear leggings — paired with bump-hugging sweaters, print tunic tops and funky belts.

Celebrity who loves this trend: Nicole Richie

Mini dresses: Maxi dresses are still a maternity must-have, but for a special occasion many expecting moms are now turning to mini dresses. Paired with opaque tights, you will feel as sexy as you look!

Celebrity who loves this trend: Kourtney Kardashian, Jenna Elfman

Feminine dresses: Look for details like flower prints, dainty ruffles and flowing fabrics. Most women feel their most feminine when pregnant, so your clothes should be an expression of this.

Celebrity who loves this trend: Sarah Michelle Gellar

Rocker chic: On the flip side of feminine, another maternity trend forgoes dresses in place of hip jeans, graphic tees, boots and a leather jacket. Rock out, mama!

Celebrity who loves this trend: Gisele Bundchen

Heidi Klum to launch two maternity clothing lines

January 7, 2010

heidi-klum-01-300x400Following in the stylish footsteps of Nicole Richie, Heidi Klum plans to launch 2 maternity lines for A Pea in the Pod and Motherhood Maternity next month.

The Project Runway host (and mom of 4!) will debut Lavish by Heidi Klum for A Pea in the Pod and Loved by Heidi Klum on Motherhood Maternity, both on Feburary 12th.

Check out Nicole Richie’s maternity at A Pea in the Pod here!

What can you expect from her maternity line? The Lavish line will include “15 pieces of iconic style and seamless fit,” including a beautiful black maxidress (pictured, below), priced at $128.

Her Loved line at Motherhood Maternity will offer 14 pieces that are more budget-friendly. They will include a loose-fitting floral print top for $40 (pictured, top) and a blue button-down tunic for $30, reports People.com.
heidi-klum-04-300x400Heidi released a statement on her Lavish and Loved maternity lines: “I experienced fashion challenges during my four pregnancies and combined my knowledge of what works in terms of style, comfort and practicality to create these lines. “Being pregnant shouldn’t stop you from being fashionable and feeling great about your changing body. It’s an exciting journey.”

Pregnancy fashion: How to wear maternity leggings

January 6, 2010

We recently discussed skinny jeans as the hot pregnancy fashion trend, thanks in part to stylish pregnant celebrities like Nicole Richie. Pregnancy Fashion reader Amanda pointed out another hot maternity trend – maternity leggings!
maternity-leggings
Maternity leggings are a great alternative to skinny jeans. Some expecting moms will find they are more comfortable than maternity jeans due their amazing stretch. As Amanda mentioned, many maternity leggings feature a full-panel only, so some moms who tend to get overheated may not like this feature.

How do you wear the maternity leggings look? Pair leggings with a long tunic top or pullover. I love this look from EverydayMaternity.com. Their Queen Mum Black Maternity Leggings (pictured) actually feature a foldable panel for those moms who don’t like the full panel.

Accessorize your leggings with a belt, worn low under your belt. For a night out, pair your leggings with heels or wear them with ballet flats for a more casuel look during the day.

Where can you buy maternity leggings? The pictured Queen Mum Leggings are based out of the UK, for those of us in the US, check out the versatile line at DestinationMaternity.com. Some stand-outs include the Secret Fit Belly Jersey Knit 5 Pocket Slim Leg Maternity Legging ($48) from A Pea in the Pod and, for those rockin’ moms, you will love the grey/white tie dye pattern of the Jersey Knit Slim Leg Maternity Leggings ($39.99), also from A Pea in the Pod.
