When will you start to show?
December 30, 2007
You just found out the exciting news: You are pregnant! First of all, congratulations! If you are like many expecting moms-to-be, you may be wondering: when will I start to show?
According to our experts at PregnancyAndBaby, when you start to show depends on your overall physical shape and how many times you have been pregnant.
If this is your first pregnancy and you are in good overall shape, you may not start to show until 20 weeks. If you are in good shape, but this is not your first pregnancy then you will probably start to show somewhere between 12 and 18 weeks. If you are plus-size, you may not start to show until you are much further along.
At around eight weeks, your uterus, which is normally the size of a lemon, will be the size of a tennis ball. If you start showing early, you could be pregnant with twins and your doctor may perform an ultrasound to verify. Some women who are very thin may not start to show until much later in their pregnancy and can wear their normal pre-pregnancy clothes throughout their second and sometimes even third trimesters.
