How Giada soothes itchy pregnancy skin
March 1, 2008
If you want to talk to Food network star/Today show contributor Giada De Laurentiis, try to schedule it in the morning. “I feel awesome in the morning, but around four or five o’clock my energy crumbles,” she says. Giada, 37, and her husband Todd Thompson are expecting their first child, a daughter, on April 3rd.
What advice does she give pregnancy novices? “No one ever tells you the gross things,” she jokes. “There is nothing sexy about being pregnant. All you want to do is veg out. You get really, really tired — so tired that you can’t control it. And you feel major discomfort. There are very few positions that are comfortable!”
Giada says she relaxes with a bath followed by jasmine-scented homeopathic oil to moisturize her skin. “Your skin tends to get dry when you’re pregnant. [The oil] just makes you feel good in your own skin.”
