“While I was pregnant, I read everything about being pregnant and I didn’t read anything about being a mother. And if I did it again, I would read more about being a mother because the pregnancy is transitory and motherhood is lasting. So I would have read books about being a mom. I would have invested more time in preparation, but maybe this is the point – you can’t. You can’t know until you’re in it. “

-Actress Annabeth Gish, mother to her baby boy Cash, as told to The Cradle.

I agree with Annabeth in that while you are pregnant it is so easy to get caught up with being prepared for pregnancy that you sometimes forget how important it is to be prepared for being a mother.

Although I do recommend What to Expect When You’re Expecting, a great book to help you prepare for being a mother is Secrets of the Baby Whisperer by Tracy Hogg. She gives you tips on how to connect with your baby and interpret what he is trying to tell you.

What book do you recommend for new mothers?

I heard about this book! I also like the book, “21 Things Every New Mother Should Know.” I can’t remember the author, but it’s good.

Got something to say?
