Many women will notice their breasts becoming fuller by around 8 weeks of pregnancy. It is important to buy a supportive maternity bra that will accommodate for your increased cup size and expanding rib cage. Avoid the inclination to buy a all of your maternity bras all at once because it is hard to tell how your body will change. At the minimum, buy one bra in your second trimester, and another maternity/nursing bra during your third trimester.

If you are unsure what size to buy, follow this advice from A Pea in the Pod:

Measuring the Band:
Measure around the rib cage, directly under the bust. Add 5″ to this measurement. If measurement is an EVEN number, this is the band size.

If measurement is an ODD number, add 1” to get the correct band size.

Measuring the Cup:
With your bra on, measure completely around the fullest part of the bust without pulling tight. Determine the difference between this measurement and the band measurement.
Example: If the bust measurement is 1” over band measurement, you are an A cup.
Use the following to determine cup size:
3″ difference = C cup
4″ difference = D cup
5″ difference = E cup

You can also go a maternity or department store and get fitted by a trained salesperson.
