Happy Feet

Are your most comfortable pair of shoes suddenly tighter and not so comfortable anymore? Blame relaxin–the pregnancy hormone that causes the ligaments in your feet to “relax” and can cause your feet to become a half-size wider. The extra fluid you are retaining is also playing a part in the change in your feet.
Don’t worry, you should be able to wear your favorite shoes again (although some women notice a permanent change in their feet size). In the meantime, buy shoes a half-size larger and consider using arch supports for added comfort.

Save the high heels for after the baby is born, and stick to flat shoes/sandals, low wedges and athletic shoes. Easy slide-on shoes, such as slip-on sandals, are your best bet in your third trimester when you can’t quite touch your feet. For that special dress-up occasion, wear shoes with a low kitten heel (pictured).
Your feet are carrying more weight then they are used to, so give them a little extra TLC during this important time.
