Amy Poehler talks maternity fashion

Loading ...Saturday Night Live actress Amy Poehler spoke with USA Today about the impossible task of finding the perfect dress for the Emmy Awards and finding her balance — both physically (thanks to the big ole’ belly) and in her life. The Baby Mama actress and her husband, actor Will Arnett, are expecting their first child next month.
On pregnancy cravings:
“You have no idea. I ate two waffles, a banana and cereal with blueberries. And that was between my two breakfasts.”
On doing SNL while pregnant:
“It’s my second week back. With the (first) show on Saturday, I was trying to figure out what would be my rhythm. And adrenaline still really does work. I was waddling from scene to scene (makes huffing noises).”
How does she balance it all?
“The (phrase) “balance it all” is really funny because literally, my balance — it’s about not falling down. I am short of stature, and I have a giant, giant, 40-pound cement beach ball in my front area. The way I balance all of it is, I put my hand on someone’s shoulder and ask them to escort me to the next scene.”
Her Emmy dress:
“I’m going to wear Zac Posen. I really like him. I love his stuff. And I’m using Harry Josh — he’s this star stylist and he does Gisele (Bündchen), and I’m going to ask him if he can make me look like Gisele from the neck up. I’m going to have a team of scientists and engineers who are going to hopefully try to draw the eye up. Will’s going to wear vertical stripes, with arrows that point up to the sky. And I’m going to wear a dress with a neon arrow that points up to the sky.”
Pregnant women should be exempt for the worst-dressed list:
“That would be kind of rude. I wish I could wear a wrestling singlet and flip-flops. Would that be weird?”
