The bikini-clad Nicole Richie was recently seen with her tummy tattoo showing. Angelina Jolie (pictured) shows off her lower belly tattoo while pregnant last year with Shiloh. Have you thought about what will happen to your tummy tattoo while you are pregnant?

Click here to read what real moms have to say about how their tummy tattoos fared during pregnancy. Many women notice their tattoo stretching out and getting bigger as their tummy grows. After birth, the tattoo may stay distorted somewhat.

Can anything be done to stop this? Some believe that keeping your tattoo moisturized with lotions containing aloe vera or vitamin E will help to minimize the damage. Depending on the location of your tattoo, most of the damage is unavoidable and a touchup may be required once your doctor gives you the approval.

If you want a tattoo, it is best to wait until you are not pregnant. The chance of an infection or an allergic reaction from the ink makes it not worth the risk. As always, talk to your OB before having anything done to your body.
