Katrina Szish of Instyle magazine talked to CNN about what fashion trends pregnant celebrities are wearing.
“What we have learned from celebrities is to dress like you are still a superstar,” Szish says. One maternity trend that Nicole Richie (pictured) made popular is wearing flats. “Flats are still chick. They give you that mod 60’s look,” Szish says.
Nicole is seen here wearing Lanvin patent ballet flats ($495 at Barney’s). You can also dress up your look by wearing metallic flats. Szish recommends Micheal Kors gold metallic flats (on sale for $196 at Neiman Marcus). “Wear them with a skirt or jeans,” she says. Another hot trend that is as popular for the pregnant set as the non-pregnant set? A hot trapeze dress. Szish reports: “A Trapeze dress is great for expecting moms. As far as evening wear, Szish sites Jennifer Lopez as a style star. “She is taking a cue from spring trends— bright colors and asymmetrical necklines.” She adds that Lopez will “allow the fabric to elegantly skim her body. She is not trying to hide her baby bump.”

Now, I hate to say this about Nicole Ritchie, but here she is really showing some smarts!! Wearing flat shoes while pregnant is the right move. Unlike Brooke whats-her-name who thinks that spike heels are fine while with child. She seriously needs to talk to her doctor about the advisability of proper footwear. Put your brain back in gear, girl!
