Between the cold winter air and the drying heater, your sensitive mom-to-be skin can easily become scaley and itchy.

Here are some tips to keep your skin soft and supple:

1. You know you are supposed to skip the hot baths, but also skip the hot showers or keep them short. The hot water will dry out your skin even further, so keep the water temperature lukewarm.

2. Moisturize from the inside out by drinking plenty of good ole’ fashioned water.

3. Use a thick body cream at least twice a day. Slather the lotion on as soon as you get out of the shower to trap some of the moisture in your skin. I am a big fan of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Cream ($1.99 for 2 oz. at Walgreen’s) which moisturizes and helps prevent stretch marks.

4. To balance out the drying effects of your heater, put a humidifier in your room to add moisture back to the air.
