Although you may not be showing much on the outside yet, I’m sure a lot is going on in the inside—both in the uterus and in the mind. Before you start to feel overwhelmed with everything you will need for baby, let me take one thing off your mind—maternity clothes.

Here is what you will need for a stylish 40 weeks:

1. Tops: Look for tops that will grow with you, such as those with an empire-waist or with finely-sewn gathered material (called ruching) that gently hugs your growing bump.
Pictured is the Isabella Oliver Halter Bandeau with a ruched fitted body.

2. Layering Cami: Buy long layering camis or tanks in basic colors, such as black and white, to layer under tops that are too short or show too much cleavage.

3. Jeans: Whether you want to splurge on designer denim or are looking for a basic pair of maternity boot-cut jeans, a well-fitting pair of maternity denim is a must-have.

4. Pants: If you are working, buy a pair of basic black maternity pants. If you are looking for more casual pants, buy chic cargo pants for a cool look.

5. Skirt: A basic skirt with a stretchy waistband can fit under your belly or over your belly making for a stylish and versatile maternity piece.

6. Maternity bras and underwear: These items are a must-have to keep you comfortable as your body changes. Because your breasts can change so dramatically during pregnancy, get fitted for a bra at a well-respected department store or maternity boutique.
