There are some maternity items that are luxuries during pregnancy (that expensive pair of designer denim), and other items, such as a well-fitting bra, are necessities. It is inevitable that your breasts will get larger during pregnancy and will stay that way until after baby is born. Many women notice breast tenderness and an increase in size by the time they are 8 weeks pregnant.

You can continue wearing your pre-pregnancy bra until it starts to leave marks on your skin or until your cup runneth over. At that point, it is a good idea to invest in a new bra.

When should you buy a bra? Every woman is different, but most will find their breast size stabilizing by the time they reach 6 or 7 months. After baby is born and your milk comes in you may find your breast size increasing another cup size, however it will go down as your milk supply stabilizes.

If you plan on breastfeeding, it is a good idea to go ahead and buy a nursing bra. It will provide the support your fuller breasts need and will be used once you start breastfeeding baby. If you do not plan on breastfeeding, you will need a comfortable and supportive maternity bra.

It is always a good idea to buy 2-3 bras so you always have a clean one ready to be worn. Buy a beige, white and black bra so you have an undergarment that will blend in underneath your tops.
