Maternity mistake: Wearing his clothes
February 11, 2008

It is tempting, but borrowing clothes from your man’s closet to cover your growing bump will actually make you look bigger. Of course, the occasional sleep shirt is acceptable, but you should not make his clothes your clothes.
IsabellaOliver.com explains why bigger is not better:
“Wearing ‘his’ clothing is a maternity mistake we all make. Tops fall off your shoulders, sag behind, and hang off your bump like a tablecloth. You lose your elegant silhouette and look (and feel) bigger than you are. And regular clothes need to go up a size each month to fit your bump. That’s why maternity designs that grow with you are better for your self-esteem and your budget.”
Details such as adjustable waistbands, side-shirring, ties and wraps are all features to look for when buying clothes that will grow with you.
The Garbo Trousers from Isabella Oliver (pictured) feature hidden side-adjusters and fit under your bump to ensure long-term wearability.
Got something to say?
