Has your skin made you feel like you are going through puberty all over again? Where is the “glow” you have heard so much about? Many women notice their skin breaking out, especially during the first trimester. The good news is that your skin will clear up after baby is born or after you have reached your second trimester.

In the meantime, keep these tips in mind to prevent or treat acne during pregnancy:

1. Wash you face in the morning and at night with an oil-free cleanser. One to try is Belli Pregnancy Acne Clearing Facial Wash which has ingredients safe for expecting mothers.
2. Examine your make-up and moisturizers: You may need to switch to oil-free products during pregnancy.
3. Use a concealer to hide the appearance of spots. Make sure you have the right shade otherwise you will highlight the spots instead of conceal them. Go to a makeup counter at a department store to get help finding the right shade.
4. Use a clay-based or oatmeal-based mask once a week to deep clean your pores.
5. Wash you make-up brushes frequently and launder your pillowcase at least once a week.
6. Do not use over-the-counter acne treatments without checking with your doctor. Many of these products contain ingredients that are not safe to use during pregnancy.
7. Avoid using Tetracycline, Tretinon (Retin-A), Accutane, and Tetracycline—these products are not safe for use during pregnancy.
