Skye Hoppus: 2nd Trimester Tips
February 28, 2008

Skye Hoppus, author and creator of Childish clothing, recently gave her rockin’ fashion tips to moms-to-be entering their second trimester.
Here are her tips for looking hot during the “honeymoon period” of pregnancy:
1. Momma, get ready, as these weeks are full of physical changes. Where to start??… Boobs are getting bigger, hips are widening, your waistline is expanding, and you are on your way to steady weight gain. Now you can officially start the shopping for maternity wear.
2. Establish the basics: jeans, tees, and at least one incredible dress.
3. When shopping, look for pieces with a Lycra or spandex content of at least 4%. This will offer much needed support and comfort.
4. Most importantly, show off your belly and those gorgeous new curves with simple silhouettes and body-hugging shapes. Empire cuts and wrap dresses are essentials in every woman’s maternity wardrobe!
You can check out the rest of her tips on The Cradle.
Pictured is the Naomi dress by Childish clothing (on sale from $110 to $66). You will love the deep olive color as much as the ultra-flattering cut.

Pregnancy Fashion Tip: For a slimming look, wear for clothes that have details such as a tie-back waist or side-shirring to allow the fabric to gently hug your curves.
The Maternity Short-Sleeved Charmeuse Top ($34.50) puts you in this season’s hottest shade (plum) and features flattering details like V-neckline and a cummerbund waist with a tie-back.
Pair this versatile top with jeans for a casual look, or black dress pants for the office.
Brooke Burke on bedrest and nesting
February 26, 2008
Actress Brooke Burke opens up on her blog about surviving 3 weeks of bed rest, not being able to fulfill her nesting instinct and surrendering to the fact that she can’t control everything. Burke, 36, is 37 weeks pregnant with her fourth child (her first son!) with her fiancé David Charvet.
On bed rest:
I’m still on bed rest! I can not believe I have made it three weeks. I am still early and will be going to the Dr. again tomorrow. After that I will be in the safety zone and she will hopefully lift all my restrictions. Yeah! I have tried to see the positive things during this challenging time. Being on best rest has actually forced me to slow down, be still and look inside me a bit more than usual. I have actually enjoyed the quite moments I have been forced to take to connect with my son. I also think that my bed rest has helped teach my family to take care of themselves a little bit more, which every expectant mother needs. I also read my first book in a very long time, which I love to do but never take the time, and I have been sleeping a lot. It is amazing how much a baby takes from us in the final month.”
Brooke writes she is 6 weeks away from moving into their new home, and she is holding back her nesting instinct.
“I’m sure you are all experiencing that nesting stage when you have urges to clean and get organized. Because much of my life is unsettled and in boxes anticipating our move, it is driving me crazy!!! “
On surrendering to the unknown:
“I am anxiously waiting for many things. I actually hate the mystery stage of not knowing when I will go into labor. Will my water break in the super market, in the middle of the night when all three of my kids are sleeping and I have no one to watch them, or even better, on PCH driving to school??? Whatever it is, I am convinced that only my son knows and I have surrendered to the fact that I have very little control over this truly miraculous time. I swore that I would have delivered by now, what do I know. Sometimes, you just have to let go and let nature take it course.”
